Well all I can say is, what complete domination we got today from Spurs! I wasnt expecting such a strong team put out and I have to say it but Gareth Bale was outstanding. But Im proud to be a skyblue fan after that performance, first half we were poor and gave them like Mark Robins said too much respect on the ball but the second half we were much better! Fantastic support from the Coventry fans, 5021 away fans is another big support by the skyblues, even if it was Tottenham. Still cla s support and nonstop singing, even Frankie Fryer (Baby Elvis) off Soccer Am said we were the best at the Lane this season. But now were out of the FA Cup I think its done us good because now we can focus on the top six and hopefully a trip to Wembley for the JPT!On to the match, I was dreading the Vernon Scott Jersey game once the teams were announced, and what I feared would happen, did, throughout Spurs dominated. Mark Robins changed the team from the surprising defeat to Shrewsbury Town with Leon Clarke, James Bailey and Jordan Clarke coming in for David McGoldrick who has joined Ipswich Town on loan L, John Fleck and Cyrus Christie were also the ones to drop to the bench. The opening exchanges were all Spurs and it paid off in the first real chance at goal as a Gylfi Sigurd son free kick was flicked on by Gareth Bale to American Clint Dempsey at the far post who fired past Joe Murphy. It could have been more with cro s after cro s being thrown at Murphys box, right back Kyle Naughton nearly double the lead with a low shot but Murphy got down well to keep it out. Most of the attention was on Gareth Bale and he delivered some of the ability that is overshadow about him, he ran through a swarm of City players and fired just wide of the goal with Murphy stretching all the way, a big late off but the quality of the Welshman was fantastic, has to be said. As you can tell the first half was all Tottenham, we just couldnt get a foot in, you could tell because we were giving away silly challenges, James Bailey was first in the book for a very late challenge on one of my favourite footballers Scott Parker, Carl Baker would follow in the second half for a tackle on Baleoh wait, a dive. The City goal was getting all the action with both wing backs joining in play, particularly Benoit A sou Ekotto who has just recently came back from injury, was fantastic and really Aaron Rodgers Jersey impre sed me throughout. Spurs grabbed the second goal just after the half hour mark with Dempsey deflected shot hit off my man of the match William Edjenguele which has to be said, had Emmanuel Adebayor in his back pocket! The deflection unfortunately found his way to Bale at the back post who just stretched out a foot to fire home. Spurs had it wrapped up 4 minutes later from a Bale corner which found its way to Dempsey quite away from goal who guided a great looping header to the other side which outfoxed Murphy and Carl Baker who both could not keep it out. City then woke up and created there first real effort, some confusion in the box from Leon Clarke whose effort was blocked only for Steven Jennings to chicken out for a real effort on goal and fired well wide of Brad Friedels goal. Franck Mou sa also had a volley deflected wide for a corner, but that was it for City attacks. The second half, Spurs should have scored from the next attack, another set piece in a free kick was headed just wide from a unmarked Steven Caulker, should really have scored! From the next free kick Bale nearly scored a brilliant goal, the free kick dipping over the wall and just wide of Murphys right hand side, Ronaldo like free kick! City changed it with bringing on John Fleck, Connor Thomas and Adam Barton for Jennings, Bailey and Mou sa. Spurs rested their players with Bale, De'Vondre Campbell Jersey Parker and Sigurd son coming off for Andros Townsend, Mou sa Dembele and Tom Carroll. Coventry had a glorious chance to get a goal back as from a corner Edjenguele rose up highest to meet it with header forcing a brilliant save from 41 year old keeper Friedel. Some leaky defending let Bale in again but thankfully Murphy made a great save again flicking it around the post from a sort of toe poke from Bale. The Coventry goal was being bombarded again with both Dempsey looking for his hat trick and lively substitute Townsend shooting just wide. Coventry did have the ball in the net, Thomas picked up the ball and his pa s inside to Gary McSheffrey was tapped home only for Thomas to be flagged offside, could at least gave us a goal officials! That was it, could have been very more but we can be proud of our efforts, especially against a full strength team that Spurs put out. Least we can focus on the League and JPT on Thursday against Preston! Its on Sky Sports 1 at 7:30 so get watching!!!!! Oh this is the first time Ive found out how to include a picture! PUSB
